Prison Break
The trailer starts with an establishing bird's eye view, crane shot looking down on the prison. This highlights the soap is filmed on location rather than in a set creating realism.
The camera cuts to a LS of police men and cars which then flicks quickly to MS of a prisoner then a extreme LS of several prisoners, the low angle of the camera allows the audience to capture the characters running. The voice over says "They've been hunted..." reaffirming the idea that the predators (police) are running after the hunted (prisoners). The voice over then carries on to say "...imprisoned.." The camera cuts to several rapid shots of the main prison characters. One in particular is captured in a MCU. His face is situated behind bars emphasising his imprisonment.
The trailer reveals the multiple storylines as the camera edits hastily to a high angle LS of one prisoner standing over another lying on the ground. The voice over then states "...and left for dead." Consequently the man on the floor is presumed dead, creating ambiguity as to what happened engaging the audience with cliff hangers.
The next 3 shots start with a MCU of the main character to a POV shot of his back. Then the character is illustrated in a CU of his face and arm as he points a gun at a unknown person, diegetic sound is used as his dialogue, for he exclaims "For Sarah" which suggest he's taking revenge, as the voice over claims "It's time for pay back."
After this for the first time in the trailer an intertitle is used which declares "one more mission" as the voice over repeats it creating suspense.
Before the next intertitle the camera edits to a two shot of the two main characters in a car as one says "You better have one hell of a plan Michael." This cuts swiftly to a CU of the main characters face as he turns to face the screen, which then edits to a LS of another storyline of another car exploding. Whilst all of this is happening the background music (soundtrack) quickens its pace in order to create more suspense.
The intertitle then states "One final confrontation." The camera portrays this confrontation with a MCU, reverse angle shot of 2 men in conversation, diegetic dialogue is used by one as he claims "when its all done, we're going to settle up!"
The camera then edits to multiple rapid shots of various locations including streets and offices.
The final intertitle reads "One big surprise" creating tension for the audience to hook them in, wanting to know more.
The camera cuts to several MS's and MCU's which subsequently edits to a CU of the main character upset and distressed face. The CU generates emotion drawing the audience in by creating intimacy.
Finally, the trailer ends with a two MS, the camera then zooms into the main characters face to a CU as he exclaims "sarah."
The trailer is left with many cliff hangers, hooking the audience and as a result making them want to watch it.
